Welcome to The Drudge
If you’re new here, this site is where I’ll share progress updates, behind-the-scenes notes, and occasional glimpses into an in-progress sci‑fi novel centered on a human slave to vampires known as drudges. If you like moody atmosphere, ancient bargains, and characters who survive long enough to regret it, you’re in the right place.
“Walk beside Gérard before his final battle.”
So… what’s a drudge?
In this story, a drudge is a human bound into service—kept close, used, and controlled by vampires who treat people as resources. The word is meant to feel heavy: not just labor, but ownership. The novel explores what happens when that ownership becomes personal, spiritual, and—worst of all—familiar.
Meet Gérard (briefly)
Gérard is the lens through which you’ll experience much of this world: a man born in 1053, slain at Civitate, and still walking nearly a millennium later. He isn’t a vampire—but he is bound to Hamšum‑Marat, the Fifth Daughter of Sharur, and that bond has a cost that keeps unfolding.
